When captain Fallowell was in the space station, he had more blood circulating through his torso and to his internal organs. As a result what happened to each of the following measures for him?
a. renin levels
b. aldosterone levels
c. ADH levels
d. thirst
e. atrial natriuretic peptide
f. urine volume
g. blood volume
a) Renin is a hormone secreted by kidney to control the blood pressure in the body. The renin would be released when blood pressure is low.
Renin caused activation of angiotensin and it helps to increase the reabsorption of water from urine
b) Aldosterone secreted by adrenal glands cause water to be reabsorbed along with sodium, thus increase the blood volume and blood pressure
c) Antidiuretic hormone secreted by pituitary gland control blood pressure by balancing the amount of water in the blood and ADH act on receptors in collecting duct of kidney and promote reabsorption of water back to circulation during lower blood pressure.
d) Thirst causes body to increase the water content of the body that leads to increase in the blood pressure by the thirst center in the mind brain and hind brain
e)atrial natriuretic hormone is cardiac hormone which function is to reduce BP and to control the homeostatsis .it reduces the plasma volume by increasing renal output of salt and water ,dilatation of blood vessels and increase vascular permeability .
f) urine volume decreases when blood pressure Is low.
g)blood volume increases
