What are three reasons why Linear Programming has value in a variety of fields?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Linear programming is an optimization technique that can be used to solve problems in which there is a linear relationship between all the decision variables. Many times in industries or even in everyday life we come across situations where we deal with such linear relationships that are bounded by some constraints. Linear programming provides a simple tool by which we can attempt to solve the problem.

Linear programming has application in many fields for economic analysis, industrial manufacturing optimization, procurement optimization, resource management, budget management, etc. It can be used in situations ranging from transportation problems, assignment problems, Units production problems. Thus it opens a wide spectrum for use across fields.

Linear programming helps in improving the quality of the decision-making process which is a critical part of operations across industries, merchants, retail shopkeepers, military, nutritionists, logistics, etc. Thus we find its value in different fields.
