i] Pes planus means having a flat foot. It is a postural deformity in which the medial longitudinal arch of the foot is touching the ground. It affects the running speed of a person. Such people cannot run very fast. Flat feet tend to overpronate. This causes the legs to collapse inwards with each footfall. This leads to injuries like shin splints and pain in the ankles, knees, hips and lower back.
ii] Flat foot is not normal and might cause problems. In a normal foot, there is an arch in the mid-region and only the anterior part and the heels touch the floor. In flat-footed people, the entire sole touches the ground when they stand up. Some problems related to the flat foot are leg fatigue, pain in the knees, ankle, knees, and hip, inflammation of soft tissues and shin splints.
iii] Tibialis Posterior Tendonitis is an injury caused due to overuse of the tendons. The pain radiates from the inside of the ankle and radiates under the arch of the foot. With proper care and treatment, it can improve in 6 to 8 weeks but if neglected it can progress further. Applying cold packs and gentle massage to the muscles helps to relax and ease muscle pain. Ankle tape helps to support the joint. To relieve and help tibialis, posterior tendonitis, the tape around the ankle should be extended and wrapped around the medial region of the foot. Also, the tape should be extended further upside of the leg to cover the area just below the calf muscles.
