Let us first logically understand what program planning is. In simple language, it can be represented as pre-planned ideas of how the program should be organised. With this in mind let us now analyse & compare between two theories.
The two models are the Tyler model and the Model of Caffarella's model
There arises a huge structural difference between both the models. In Caffarella's model, there is no starting point and no ending point which results in a more flexible and adaptive structure. However, the Tyler model is having a predefined structure which is linear.
Caffarella in her model proposed a more flexible planner which included much needed last-minute decision or slight changes to suit the present circumstances. While Tyler proposed a more systematic approach having the flow of items which are to be followed in linear order. It is more outcome-oriented.
As per my opinion to choose the best one of the two models, I would remind you to think from the point of view of the real-world experience. In reality, how so ever better you plan you will not be able to avoid some last-minute changes in the planning this has been adequately taken care of by Caffarella in her model. Moreover in the real world you just simply cannot have a linear structure as per Tylers models and Caffarella model again offer the necessary flexibility to the problem by having no predefined structure making it more flexible. Thus from the aforementioned analysis, it can be easily concluded as per my opinion that the model of Caffarella is more suitable and practical.
