Which molecule is reduced in the cytosol to a molecule that is then converted to pyruvate?
NAD+ is reduced to NADH in cytosol. Glucose looses its electrons which are taken up by NAD+. The oxidation of glucose results in the formation of pyruvate.
This is the process of glycolysis. It takes place in cytoplasm of all the organisms. It is a common step for aerobic and anaerobic respiration.
