The role of animal
husbandry in human welfare:
Animal husbandry is a process of feeding,
breeding and raising animal livestock whose primary purpose is to
provide meat and milk. Milk is considered as the 'most nearly
perfect' food for human consumption and regarded as an important
article of diet.
Animal husbandry usually includes animals such as cattle, pig,
sheep, poultry, and fish which are useful for humans in various
ways.
Role of the animal husbandry:
- These animals are managed for the production of
commercially important products such as milk, meat, wool,
egg, honey, silk, etc.
- The increase in human population has increased the
demand of these products. Hence, it is necessary to
improve the management of livestock scientifically.
- The milk production through cattle farming provides us milk
which is highly nutritious..
- They also provide a increased production of eggs through
poultry farming.
- Improvement of quality of meat through rearing of cattle and
poultry.
- The human can properly utilize the animal wastes e.g.
production of biogas and manure from the dung of livestock
animals.
- They produce more honey and bee wax through bee
keeping.
