Following are the ways using which the government can reduce the corruption in public sector:
1. Using smart technology: Technology today helps in controlling many processes from across the industry. It can also be used to monitor and control the working of public sector processes so that corruptive activities can be controlled and caught effectively.
2. Paying the employees well: The employees, if paid well, are assumed to take part in corruption activities less and will be more inclined to put their best on the job. An official, if underpaid, can resort to corruption in order to make more money through unaccountable (non-taxable) ways.
3. Giving subsidies with targeted cash transfer: The authorities should resort to giving subsidies to the public through 'targeted cash transfer' which means sending the money directly to their bank accounts. This will help to create a more robust process which is less prone to tampering and corruption.
4. Transparency and openness in government spending: The more transparent and open government is with the public, the better control on the corruption can happen. For example, when a government doesn't involve on sharing the spending details with the public, no one gets to know how much money is collected, how much is allocated for the development of different sectors etc.
