( # ----------> Indicates presence of that particular character in the specific group in Table )

Explanation:-

1) Nonvascular plants:- These are Bryophytes , they have waxy outer coating on leaf surface , helps in water conservation, eg . of non vascular plants are liverworts, Hornwarts. they do not have xylem and phloem , lack tracheids and vessels, no internal water transport system found in them, lack seeds, flowers, seeds, they have hair like rhizoids instead of rooot which helps in conduction of water , their reproduction is by spores. and they want a moist habitat, they have stomata, a protected embryo retained by parents.

2) seedless vascular plants:-

They have waxy coating, these are the vascular plants reproduce by spores, plants have vascular tissues, having xylem and phloem they have stomata , tracheids are found which give them support and also give them a woody texture.eg. of this type of plant are fern.

3) Gymnosperms:- They have tough , scaly needle like leaves having waxy cuticle on them, eg. are cycads, gingko, conifers. they have sunken stomata, have vascular tissues, tracheids found, characteristic feature is presence of naked seeds, pollen found .they do not have flower or fruit.

4) Angiosperms:- These are the flowering plants, they are 80% of known green plants, there are two types of spores found microspore and megaspore , male gametophyte develops from microspore and female gametophyte develops from megaspore, waxy cuticle found on leave helps in conservation of water, embryo protected by parents, flower, fruit, pollen, seed , spore found, stomata present , vascular system developed but vessels found.

Explain how each evolutionary change seen in the life cycles of seedless non-vascular plants, seedless vascular plants, non-flowering seed plants, and flowering seed plants reflects adaptations to land. In your explanation, explain why each plant group is more successful on land than the ancestral group before it.
