what will be the impact towards society, health,safety and environment if the engineer used diameter of discharge line more than the minimum diameter?

Every engineering calculation is aimed towards optimizing material used to make any component considering factor of safety.

For example, where the requirement is of 1 cm diameter pipe, if anybody uses 2 cm dia pipe, it will not cause any damage to that application, but it will have adverse and indirect effects on the outcomes of the economy of the project.

Engineering aims at the best economical utilization of resources, like man, material and money.

The aim is to use as little amount of material as possible for that process to complete.

If somebody uses more material than necessary, for a million dollar project at such extra utilization, tonnes of material will be used excessively causing deprivation of resources, and money for the project.

This will in turn effect the industries, such that , industries need to produCe more material which in turn effect the environment at a global scale.
