# sensors for process nonitoring : cutting process ..
- Briefly explain the process ( first explain it un general and then related with the sensor)
-- I need it typing and clear and at least 2 pages
Cutting is the process of producing a job by removing a layer of unwanted material , under the action of force, pressure is executed on the workpiece metal causing it's compression near the tip of the tool. The metal undergoes shear type deformation and a piece or layer of metal gets repeated in the form of a chip .
All machining processinvolve the formation of chips, this occurs by deforming the work material on the surface of job with the help of a cutting tool. The type of chip formed provides information about the deformation suffered by the work material and the surface quality produced during cutting.
Sensors are vital for intelligent processing. The requirement for improved sensor systems for process monitoring and control will become increasingly important as more complex processes are developed for small quantity production of precise and expensive components made of advanced materials. Because research on process modeling and material characterization cannot remove all uncertainty in the manufacturability of advanced workpieces, sensors will always be necessary for successful production. The adoption of sensor technology can make viable those unit process that are inherently so complex or unstable that they demand continuous monitoring and control to ensure acceptable yields. All unit process for advanced material with intricate near shape, high quality surface treatment and composition.
Machining of advanced material such as ceramics provider another example of the need for sensing as the part of process. For the most part ,ceramics material are not intrinsically expensive. The principal production costs are in the shaping of the ceramics parts The increasing demand of sensors system have encourage the development of system using a variety of sensor. So we can say that sensor play an important role .
