how does dna work
DNA being a genetic material carry the genes responsible for the inheritance of characters from parents to offsprings.
DNA is made up of Nitrogen bases, sugar and phosphate linked together in a specific pattern to make it stable and carry the genetic information. It undergoes replication to multiply itself and transfer to the offspring thus carry the same information to the next generation.
DNA also controls the vital functions of any cell by regulating the production of proteins and enzymes. DNA through a process called transcription produces RNA. RNA undergoes a process called translation, and produces protein. This protein become the structural component or can modify into enzymes. These enzymes have a crucial role in regulating the metabolic reactions occurs in the cells.
So DNA decides when to produce the enzymes and if not required it stops the synthesis of that particular enzyme by switch off mechanism of that particular gene.
