Explain the two parts of the name ANTIDIURETIC.

ANTIDIURETIC.
The Word Anti means Againts/Opposed.
The Word Diuretic means Increased passing of urine[usually the drugs or substance that causes increased passing of urine]
So the Word Antidiuretic means the substances or drugs that opposes increased passing of urine--That is the drugs or substances that reduce urine Output.
Endogenous(Substances inside the body) which act as antidiuretic is antidiuretic hormone(ADH/Vasopressin) which when released causes increased opening of Aquaporins (water channels) in collecting duct that increases reabsorption of water in the collecting duct there by reduces urine output
There are Different types of anti diuretic drugs with different mechanism of action.Some examples are-
1.Loop diuretics like furosemide,torsemide
2.Thiazides like hydrochlorothiazide,chlorthalidone
3.Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors like acetazolamide
4.Potassium-sparing diuretics like spironolactone
