At the end of each of the specific phases of the cell cycle (e.g., G1-, S- or M-phase) specific cyclin dependent kinase complexes (CDKC, S-Cdk2-cyclin and M-Cdk1-cyclin) are inactivated irreversibly by?
simultaneous phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of CDKCs.
multiple phosphorylation events of CDKCs.
proteasome degradation of the cyclin, but not CDK.
dephosphorylation events of CDKCs.
Ans:- The proteasome degradation of the cyclin but not CDK. Once cyclin have performed it's function it need to be degarded so that my chance it cannot show the effect.
All other options are incorrect.
Phosphorylation and dephoshorylation if CDK is not an irreversible process.
Multiple phosphorylation of CDK is also incorrect because it cannot irreversibly inhibit CDK activity.
Dephoshorylation of CDK is also incorrect.
Phosphorylation and dephoshorylation are transient mechanism of regulation of protein function not irreversible.
Concept is that for CDK to be active it need Cyclin. Thus, after performing cell cycle cell degrade cyclin. And without cyclin CDK can't do anything.
