Most Americans support capital punishment. Review the arguments for and against the death penalty and list what you think are the 3 best arguments for and against

Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer- The three best arguments for and against the death penalty can be described as follows-

For

  • Some people argue that if someone kills a person, he has misused his human rights. No one has the right to take someone's life. So the person who murdered someone should be executed.
  • If a person will be given death penalty for murdering someone, others will stop doing these criminal activities.
  • Some people argued that prison is like a hell. The prisoners are tortured badly in the prison. So, it is better to give death penalty than being tortured in the jail.

Against

  • Sometimes innocent people are punished and real criminal roam freely. So, death penalty is not correct as it could take the life of innocent people.
  • It is not necessary that executing people for murdering someone would stop others to commit the similar crimes.
  • Death penalty is always very cruel. Use of lethal injections or electric shocks make the death very painful.
