Which group of muscles, which are second class levers are the most efficient at lifting their load?
Group of answer choices:
A. Biceps
B. Triceps
C. Hamstrings
D. Gastroc/Soleus Complex
Gastroc/soleus complex
This is an example of the second-class lever muscle and is an example of calf muscle which is very efficient in lifting the load. They are the calf muscles and help with the gait cycle. These muscles are very effective in lifting the load off the toe. This is a complex of two head gastrocnemius and soleus muscle which is present in the calf and they help in locomotion. They help in efficiently lifting the load off as they are strong calf muscles. The soleus muscle is more powerful. Hence in this the load is present between the fulcrum and the effort that is applied to lift.
The first option of biceps in not correct as it is an example of third-class level muscle and is present in the arms. The bicep muscle is present on the front upper arm and this helps in bending of the arms and hence helps with elbow flexion.
The second option is not correct as triceps is an example of the third-class level muscle and is an extensor muscle of the elbow. It helps with the extension of the elbow and hence it helps in primarily extension of the arm via the elbow joint. It acts as antagonists’ muscle of the biceps.
The third option is not correct as the hamstring is an example of the third-class level muscle and it helps in actively bending the knee as well as helps with the extension of the hip.
