C. What departments within the market tend to be distant from one another? What purpose is accomplished by separating these departments so far apart from each other?
D. Why is the layout of the supermarket so important to the overall delivery of the products and services provided?
E. What recommendations would you make to the layout of the supermarket to make the layout more effective or efficient?
Please provide this ASAP.
Thanks
A. I am considering D-Mart store for this discussion.
B. In D-Mart, the complementary products are usually co-located. For example: pasta and sauces are kept on adjacent shelves, similarly bread and jams are placed adjacently.
In my views, the co-location placement seems to be planned with the objective to promote the sale of the complementary products.
C. Departments like meat and eggs are usually kept at a distant from the fresh produce in the supermarket. The objective behind this layout may be to prevent the adulteration of food quality and maintain hygiene.
D. The store layout is designed with the objective to maximize the customer’s convenience and shopping experience. The grocery layout must be planned in a way that it facilitates the self-service aspect as well as consumer’s ease to do shopping.
E. The layout of the supermarket can be made consistent in every department so that the flow of movement and search criteria is facilitated. Also, the placement of the racks and shelves must be done in a way that 2 XL Size people can comfortably bend and do shopping from the lower shelves, at the same time. These small enhancements can considerably improve the overall consumer’s shopping experience.
