Classify leukocytes according to their lineage, their main structural features, and their primary functions
Leukocytes are also called as white blood cells it is part of immune system to fight against the infection and other organisms
White blood cells are classify in two groups granulocytes ( neutrophils, basophils, esinophills ) and agranulocutes ( lymphocytes, monocytes ,
Granulocytes are polymorphonucleate and stained with cytoplasm and large cells
where as agranulocutes are monocytes that lack visibly staining granules.
Neutrophills dark and light garanules they have multilobed nucleus are 50 - 70 % in leukocytes and are chemically attract to the inflammation site and active phagocytes.
Esinophills: primarily tissue resident cells, pink granules and bilobed they attack parasitic worms in loose connective tissue and have a role in asthma and allergy
Basophills: dark staining and abundant granules 0.5 - 1 % and release histamine to promote inflammation.
Lymphocytes: 25% are found through out the body but relatively few in found in blood
T lymphocytes directly attack virus infected and tumour cell where as B lymphocytes produce antibodies.
Monocytes : reduced cytoplasm and bean shaped nucleus it is inflammatory and reparative contains 3- 8% and becomes actively phagocytic macrophages as they enter tissue and activate T lymphocytes
