Name 2 things that happen to muscle fibers with weight training -
what binds to troponin as a result of an action potential? what is the result?
Calcium binds to troponin as aresult of action potential. This alters the shape of troponin and opens the binding site for myosin on actin's filament. This results in crossbridge formation and initiates muscle contraction.
Name the proximal row of carpal bones -
These are the bones of wrist area, hence connects forearm to hand. There are 8 carpal bone. The 4 bone of proximal row are scaphoid, the lunate, the triquetral, and the pisiform(lateral to medial). The rest 4 are in distal row - trapezium, trapezoid, capitate and hamate.
What bones articulate with the talus -
Talus is an irregular bone which is located between calcaneus bone and the fibula and tibia in the lower leg. It articulates with 4 bones. They are -
How does the parathyroid affect bone -
Parathyroid hormones stimulates the release/secretion of calcium from bone(bones are reservoir of calcium) into the blood stream. This increases bone destruction i.e. osteoclast and decreases the formation of new bone.
Low parathyroid level results in hypocalcemia i.e. decreased calcium level in blood and High parathyroid level results in hypercalcemia i.e hypercalcemia.
Name the zones involved in endochondral bone growth
It is one of the essential process that occurs during fetal development of the skeletal system that forms the bone tissue. There are 5 zones involved in endochondral bone growth. They are
Name an example of fibrous joint
Fibrous joint is a type of fixed joint in which the adjacent bones are directly connected to each other by fibrous connective tissue, so the bones do not have a joint cavity between them. An example of fibrous joint is "Suture of the brain".All the bones of the skull are joined to each other by a fibrous joint ,except mandible and this joint is called suture.
