4. Warm water gargles with salt in it and throat lozenges can be suggested to ease throat pain after.
5. Administration of corticosteroids can decrease the possibility of laryngeal edema.
6. For people who can't sit, supine position is preffered while the others are asked to sit upright on the edge of the bed with arms extended leaned upon a table with pillow for comfort.
7. The following instructions are given to the client during procedure -
8. Generally, blood pressure, heart rate and level of oxygen are monitored during the process. Hurt, pain and comfort level of the patient are also monitored by the health care team.
9. During the procedure a tube is inserted into the space to clear blockages of airways around the lung which later helps in re-expanding the lung
10. Lung sound and other vital signs are often monitored untill patient returns to preprocedural baseline status.
11. Shortness of breath, difficulty in breathing, chest pain, pale skin and restlessness can be signs of internal bleeding dur to thoracentesis.
