What types of genes are expressed in the frog by the head mesoderm to specify the overlying ectoderm to form the brain and head ectoderm? What about for the Notochord
Frog is having triploblastic embryo that is having three layers
1. Ectoderm
2. Mesoderm
3. Endoderm
Initital expressin of axis polarity genes decide the body plan of the embryo and catehorized as anterior (Head) and posterior (Abdomen). In frogs, mesoderm express genes which regulate the formation of somites and notochord (vertebral column in the adult). Somites are known as block of mesodermal origin. Frog mesoderm, like Xenopus exhibit the expression of genes like Xbra which encode proteins which act as transcription factor this the embryonic development and regulate several other proteins (functional) like FGF abd vg1 other genes are also involved in this process like esr.
Notochords is controlled also controlled by Xenopus, Xbra gene as mentioned above, mesodermal precursor and Hh (Hedgehog signalling) also play an important role in the development and regulation of notochord.
