Observe supermarket shoppers who use self-service checkout lanes, and compare the to those who use the services of a checker. What differences do you observe? How many of those conducting self-service scanning appear to run into difficulties, and how do they resolve the problems?
I am not required to observed other customers as I have used these self-service check out system a number of times in past. As an individual, I always refer to use the checkout lanes which are being served by the person as while buying alcohol, I can provide my ID card to them for the verification.
On some of the self-service checkouts, most of the service providers are quite busy in assisting the other customers and in fact, a lot of time is spent while waiting for these service provider to help or assist me. If I have to do the billing of only some products and the waiting line is huge, then in this situation, I would prefer to use the self-checkout system.
The other issue which I face in these self-checkout systems is that sometimes it take s a lot of time to pay for the products in comparison to the lines which has an employee working there.
I have to spend a lot of time in these self-service checkout points as sometimes the scanner does not function properly and thus I have to wait until an employee see that I am finding it difficult to scan my products. In fact, there is a change of some sort of thefts while using these checkouts points. In fact, some codes are being used by customers for cheaper products or they do not scan the products and when they are caught they try to show as if they did t unintentionally.
Lack of personal integration is the other drawback of this system. In fact, I am a person so find it quite interesting to interact with the cashiers while checking out the products however it largely depends on the cashier and the store. With the old ages customers, they find it quite difficult to change the stores and technology and thus the stores are required to train the customers on these new methods and innovations.
