Name and explain five distinct mechanisms used by enzymes to increase the rate of chemical reactions.
Enzymes are produced in any living organism to increase the rate of reaction occurring in their body to speed up the process of the reactions.
Enzyme catalysis works under different types of mechanism few of which we are trying to explain below
01.oxidoreductaces-
this types of enzymes carry out oxidation and reduction process in order to speed up the reaction by lowering the activation energy in the reaction
One example of this enzyme catalysis is when. Alcohol dehydrogenesis is used to convert the primary alcohols to aldehydes
HYDROLASES
In this enzyme mechanism single bonds in the molecules are broken down by adding water in it
TRANEFERASES
in this type of reaction enzyme mechanism is the one in which functional group is tranfered from one molecule to another molecule in the reaction
ISOMERACES
This is a kind of mechanism In which reactants and products are isomers of each other and in this reaction only thing happens is the rearrangement of the molecule.
LIGASES
in this kind of reaction mechanism bby using enzymes water molecule is eliminated and the single bond is formed in its place. In this mechanism water molecules is removed from the 2 functional groups.
LYASE
in this enzyme catalysis reaction either a double bond is formed or it is removed from the present functional group.
I hope this helps this are the mechanisms for 6 different types of enzyme catalysis if this helps a thums up would be appriciated.
If you want more detailed explanation or examples of this mechanism ask in the comment section below.
