Write at least one paragraph with a minimum of 100 words on the Tang Dynasty period in China and why that period was considered the “Flowering of the Chinese Civilization.” Include a look at the inventions, the literature (poetry) and interaction with other cultures in your discussion.
In China, Tang dynasty was an imperial dynasty for a period from 618 to 907. The period saw great achievements in several fields - painting, calligraphy, sculpture, dance, music and literature. In the early 8th century empire experienced a flowering of creativity in several fields, the cultural mileu and splendour of the arts made a model for the world. It was the golden age of Chinese art and literature. Under Tang rule government system was perfected with a large Confucian literati class selected through civil service examinations. The competition was designed to hire the best talents into government.
During the Tang period the technology was built upon the past precedents. Yi Xing's device of striking clock was invented. Many mechanical inventions developed that included a mechanical wine server of 3 ft (0.91 m) tall of the early 8th century that shaped in an artificial mountain and was used as hydraulic pump. Tang Empire was brilliant times for the arts and culture. During this period China was hospitable to foreign ideas, as Persian and Arabian seamen roved its ports and “western” dance and music entered into China from Central Asia. The greatest glory in this period was the poetry. All the verse past forms were refined and used, and new ones developed. They introduced regulated verse and an abbreviated, truncated verse which widely became popular. Buddhism from India achieved popularity in China during this period.
In short, generally historians view Tang to be the high point in civilization of Chinese, and flowering of cosmopolitan culture
