Describe the relationship of yeast and humans?
Yeast is known to be a single celled organism which owes its evolution to its multicellular ancestors. Some of the special category yeast have the ability to work like a multicellular organism. Importance of yeast in human life can never be denied at any point of time. Yeasts are very advantageous for mankind but at the same time they also have some harmful effects.
If we look at the process of Fermentation in wine making we can never forget the importance of yeast . Without the presence of yeast wine cannot be manufactured. So in human life yeast also possess a great economic value. Some of the yeasts are known for their high nutritional value. Some yeasts are rich in Vitamins, which are very essential for the proper growth of Skin and Body Hairs.
If we look at the manufacturing of bakery products we can never forget the role of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is also known by the name of Baker's Yeast. At the same time yeast also have some disadvantages. Yeats may also cause some bad effects. Yeasts if taken in excess may cause headache, bloating and even chest pain in some people.
An important characteristic of yeast is that their cells like humans have a nucleus containing DNA. Mostly all the metabolic and cellular pathways that occur in humans can be studied through yeasts. So, looking at all the above facts we can say that yeasts are both beneficial and harmful to us. So, yeasts acts like a Necessary Devil.
