Euglena – It has a long whiplike flagella which helps in its movement. The flagella is located on the anterior side of the Euglena and it helps in pulling the cell across the water. There is an inward pocket where the flagella is attached and it is known as reservoir.
Amoeba Proteus
a)The amoeba proteus has many cellular organelles and structures and yes, it does contain contractile vacuole. It is basically a vacuole of water present within the endoplasm and helps in regulating the content of water in the cell. It helps the cell to excrete waste through the process of diffusion. The contractile vacuole is important to help in maintaining osmosis without which the organism would burst.
b) There are no respiratory vacuoles but still gas is exchanged and the organism undergoes respiration. The dissolved oxygen in water enters the body through the body surface and it produces carbon dioxide with the process of oxidation. Through the process of diffusion, as it takes in water, it releases out carbon-dioxide.
