The eight training methods described in chapter 7 are the following, Audiovisual Instruction, Auto instruction, Lecture, Modeling, on-the-job training, Role playing, and Stimulation. PLEASE summarize and describe all of them. Also can you give me an in depth description on "on-the-job training"???
The description of the seven training methods are as follows:
1.Audiovisual education is instruction where particular attention is paid to the audio and visual presentation of the material. The most common tool used in the classroom these days is PowerPoint slides, which makes the class more interesting, dynamic and effective. The use of audiovisual aids makes the students remember the concept for a longer period of time.
2.Auto -instructional programs are educational material from which students learn by themselves. The teaching technique based on auto -instructional programs is called programmed instruction. Its purpose is to enable the learner to progress through a prearranged sequence of experiences to the acquisition of knowledge or skill.
3.A lecture is mainly a one-way method of communication that does not involve significant audience participation but relies on passive learning. It is an oral presentation intended to present information. Most commonly teaching method employed at university or college teaching to convey information, history, background, theories, and equations.
4.Modeling is a learning technique in which is a behaviorally based procedure that involves the use of live or symbolic models to demonstrate a particular behavior, thought, or attitude that a client may want to acquire or change. it is also called observational learning or imitation.
5.Role play is an experiential learning method. Role play is designed primarily to build the first-person experience in a safe and supportive environment. When children do role plays, they naturally become someone or something else that stimulates their imagination and assist in their social development. This activity also helps to build friendship through cooperation, listening and turn taking.
6.A stimulating technique refers to the way students' minds are stimulated while in their learning environment. This may be done by using Visuals, Hands-on activities with physical movement, Multi-modal, opportunities for higher-order thinking/questioning and exciting and stimulating teachers. As a result, students get involved in the learning process thereby improving learning.
On the job training refers to the type of learning when an employee learns while working. This happens when an employee learns the job in the actual working site in real life situation rather than in a simulated environment. In this method, the individual is placed on a regular job. While being on a job the trainee under the supervision and guidance of a qualified worker or instructor learns the skills necessary to perform that job. The method has the advantage of giving firsthand knowledge and experience under actual working conditions. The trainee is treated as a regular worker while he learns how to perform a job and he also receives a salary. Here the emphasis is placed on rendering services in the most effective manner rather than learning how to perform the job. On-the-job training methods include job rotation, coaching, job instruction or training through step-by-step and committee assignments. For example, take the roadside eateries or diners. Small boys learn to work here while working as helpers. They do not learn the skills of restaurant management or to be a chef in any classroom in a hotel management institute.
