India is one of the developing countries which is giving emphasis on development of science and technology through education, learning, knowledge and technology transfers and collaborations with developed countries. India is emphasizing use of science and technology for peaceful applications like use of science in agriculture to increase agricultural outputs.Apart from agriculture India uses its skilled man force for the development science and technology in thrust areas like Space research, defence research, and industries segment.

Technology transfer is the process of transferring scientific findings, knowledge, manufacturing process, technologies, processes etc. from one organization to another for the purpose of further development and commercialization.

In India Technology transfer is an important means by which developing countries gain access to technologies that are new to them. Generally there are two ways of acquiring technology. It can be developed or it can be purchased through indegenious or imported sources.India has opted for a judicious mix of indigenious and imported technology.Purchase of technology is commonly called technology transfer and is generally covered by a technology transfer agreement.
