Pick one trace element, learn about it, write about it (200 – 300 words), and include citations.
Iron is an essential trace element for animals. Within the acidic environment iron can exist in 2 ionic forms either ferric or ferrous. Total weight of iron in body 4-5 gram out of that 75% found in blood as a part of haemoglobin that what makes haemoglobin a metalloenzyme. Apart from that it also exist in various other proteins and enzymes of blood such and myoglobin, catalase, cytochromes, succinate dehydrogenase etc. Rest of 25% is found in the liver. Dietary says 18 mg/day is required for a woman age between 11 to 50 but for adult male it is only 10mg/day. Woman during pregnancy it requires in a sufficient amount. Transport form of iron is ferritin. Iron plays a critical role in order to provide immunity by simply the development and division of white blood cells. Iron also develops free radicals which are used to kill the pathogens. Most frequently iron is used to treat the complications of Anaemia. Restless leg syndrome is sleep related disease which can be caused by iron deficiency and this syndrome can be also treated by iron supplements. Iron also requires to synthesize DNA, RNA, collagen, antibody etc. Transferrins are iron-binding blood plasma glycoproteins that control the level of free iron in body fluids. Transferrin is produced in the liver by TF gene. An increased level transferrin in the blood is associated with the anaemia.
