What are some economic effects of climate
change/sea level rise locally and globally? How do you think climate change/sea level rise could affect
you? What are you doing to lessen the impact of climate change/sea
level rise?
One of the major concerns related to climate change is sea level
rise. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has
estimated that we are likely going to see sea level rise of around
three feet by 2100. However, these estimates have come under heavy
criticism in recent years as being far too conservative. Why are
the IPCC estimates so conservative (i.e. what information does the
IPCC not include in its models or estimates of sea level rise)?

24. What is meant by the statement ‘sea level rise is relative’?
Relative to what? How can sea level be rising on the North Carolina
coast but declining on the Alaskan coast if it is all one
interconnected ocean?
34. Describe what problems a global increase in atmospheric
CO2 can cause for coral reef ecosystems.
How does Climate Change Impact our Economy?Do you think climate
change will have an impact on economic decisions? If yes, how? On
what type of industries? (2-3 paragraphs)
What is climate change and what we should do about it? You need
to describe how humans have been impacting on the atmosphere,
greenhouses effect, carbon footprint, and climate change impact on
biodiversity.
What role does public health play in society, locally and
globally, and how is that role changing? How will you play a role
in that change as a volunteer?
Why is the Public Health a good fit for you as a student and as
an international service learner?
Why do you think Public Health is an important piece of the
holistic model of development?
How are communities adapting to climate change?
What are some of the health consequences to communities as a
result of climate change?
Who all is involved in helping communities adapt and respond to
climate change?
