Find the P-value that corresponds to the given standard score, and determine whether to reject the null hypothesis at the 0.10 significance level. Is the alternative hypothesis supported?
z equals 1.2 for Upper H 0: mu equals 150 pounds and Upper H Subscript a: mu not equals 150 pounds. Could some one explain this as if you were trying to explain to a baby. this is over my head...completely
We do hypothesis testing to check whether we have enough statistical evidence to support our belief about any parameter.
Hypothesis testing involves five steps
Here in this problem. We know the test statistic z = 1.2. We need to find the p-value
For test statistic = 1.2, and it is a two-tailed test.
p-value is 0.230
Since p-value (0.230) > alpha (0.1), We fail to reject Null hypothesis
