Use the standard normal table to find the z-score that corresponds to the given percentile. If the area is not in the table, use the entry closest to the area. If the area is halfway between two entries, use the z-score halfway between the corresponding z-scores. If convenient, use technology to find the z-score.
the z-score that corresponds to P8 is____
I got 0.84 but it says that is wrong.
Solution:
We have to use the standard normal table to find the z-score that corresponds to the given percentile.
the z-score that corresponds to P8 is :-______?
That is we have to find z value for 8th percentile.
That is: P( Z < z ) = 8%
P( Z < z ) = 0.08
Look in z table for Area = 0.0800 or its closest area and find corresponding z value.
Area 0.0793 is closest to 0.0800 and it corresponds to -1.4 and 0.01
Thus z value = -1.41
That is 8th percentile z value = -1.41
