What is the difference between weight and mass?
The advantage of using scientific notation over decimal notation:
When the numbers are too big or too small, it is easier to work with them in scientific notation. It allows one to write very large and very small numbers quickly and compactly. It comes in handy with very large or very small numbers so you don't have to write so many digits. For example, it is very difficult to write the diameter of a proton in decimal notation, written as 0.000000000000001 meters. Writing it in scientific notation 1.0 x 10 ^-15 meter is much more easy.
The difference between weight and mass-
Mass is a measure of how much matter an object has. Weight is a measure of how strongly gravity pulls on that matter. For example if we measure our weight on moon, our weight would change because the pull of gravity is weaker than on Earth but, our mass would stay the same because we are still made up of the same amount of matter.
Mass is a scalar quantity. It has magnitude, while weight is a vector quantity. It has magnitude and is directed toward the center of the Earth.
Mass may be measured using an ordinary balance, but weight is measured using a spring balance.
