Express the following number in scientific notation: 1.000
Scientific notation is the shorthand writing method for numbers in math.To use scientific notation ,we have to write a number in the follow format. Ax10b. *A is called the coefficient. The coefficient is always greater than or equal to 1but less than 10. * x is the multiplication sign. *10 is know as base, its always10 when using scientific notation. *b is just exponent. Power of 10. 1000 is written in scientific notation. 1.1000 doesn't have a decimal point ,place a decimal point at the end of 1000to make it read 1000. 2. Move this numbers decimal point to very right of the first non zero digit in the number.then it turns to 1.000. 3. Count how many places you had to move that decimal point.its three. So exponent is 3. 4. To get coefficient drop any zeros that are located before the first non zero digit and after the last non zero digit of step2. So we drop all three zeros which are at right. Now coefficient is 1.
Based on given steps we write 1000 as 1x10³
