Describe, in general terms, what occurs in glycolysis (including energy investments, energy yields and carbon inputs/outputs)
Glycolysis is defined as the break down of glucose into pyruvic acid. The 6- carbon molecule glucose is input in the glycolysis. And 3 - carbon molecule pyruvic acid is an output in glycolysis. The first phase of glycolysis is preparatory phase in which 2 molecules of ATP are used. The second phase is pay off phase in which 4 ATP are synthesised. Hence the net 2 ATP molecules are synthesised in glycolysis.
