A 23-year-old woman presents to the OB-GYN office you work at. She was recently surprised to learn that she is pregnant. She estimates that she is about 8 weeks along. She tells you that she regularly drinks on the weekends with her friends. She asks you "Is that a problem? As long as I don't drink very much, I can still have a drink occasionally while I'm pregnant, right?"

abnormalities caused by alcohol and genetic influence- When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol, the alcohol absorbed in their blood stream which later  transferred to the  baby she carrying in her foetus through her bloodstream which affect life of child and may lead to a syndrome called fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS).

  • Alcohol start showing their effect in pregnant women after third week of  pregnancy and alcohol-induced the birth defects to the developing embryo.
  • Children having fetal alcohol syndrome have several problems including development of brain , learning process , behaviour change and social skills related problem.

  • size and weight of new born baby should be low than normal one having.

  • have slight differences in their faces apperence become small with narrow eye and flat lips.
