What is Anorexia nervosa? Mention some of the symptoms exhibited in this condition?
Anorexia nervosa is an abnormal eating related condition in which the patient obsessively worries about gaining too much weight and becoming fat and the accompanying strict food intake control often resulting in negative consequence like abnormal weight loss. It is often reffered to simply as anorexia, and is characterized by extreme fear of becoming fat, body image problems, severe calorie intake contol, excessive exercise etc. More often diagnosed in young females, but it has also been sometimes found in young adult women and men., and older people.
The underlying reasons for anorexia nervosa aren't much clear but patients often exhibit negative body image. Genetic, hormonal, peer pressure and psychological factors prdispose an individual to anorexia nervosa.
Symptoms:
Severe wight loss,
Malnutrition,
Excessive exercise,
Excessive vomiting,
Insomnia,
Constipation,
Dehydration,
Obsessive worrying about calorie intake,
Uneasiness,
Low mood etc.
