Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder in which the client has an intense fear of gaining weight. In Anorexia nervosa the client restricts her diet and restrict her calories intake, she uses laxative and induces vomiting which leads to abnormally low BMI.
1. Anorexia nervosa is first discovered by and described by Richard Morton, an English physician in 1698.

Health professionals first try to rule out the medical cause of Weight loss by physical exam(The client's weight is 15% less than her normal weight), blood test, and other imaging tests.
If there is no medical cause then they evaluate her mental and psychological status to diagnose Anorexia nervosa.

Treatments include
- Psychotherapy (Individual and family-based therapy)
- Counseling
- High calorie and high protein diet
- Treatment of other mental disorders associated with Anorexia nervosa.

There is no test to diagnose Anorexia nervosa, its mainly depends on physical examination but doctor may do some blood tests and imaging tests to identify any pathological cause of weight loss.
