The idea of using the sun’s energy was thought of the late 1870 when two American scienists became interested in the work of an electrican named willouhby smith who was testing underwater telegraph lines for faults using a material called selenium. Smith realized that electricity travelled through selenium well when it was in light, but it didn’t in the absence of light. It was not long before the scientists discovered that the sun’s energy generates a flow of electricity in selenium. It wasn’t until decade later that Charles Fritts invented the world’s first ever photovoltaic cell. He did this by putting a layer of selenium onto a metal plane and covering it with pieces of gold that had been beaten into thin sheet. Under the light this cell made even more electricity than had been seen with just selenium but not enough to be useful. At the time, photovoltaic technology was contending with other further developed technologies such as hydroelectricity and steam driven generators. Upon hearing of the developments in the field, Albert Einstein committed his studies to understanding the relationship between light and electricity. Building on the work of Plank, Einstein argued that light was actually made of tiny packets of energy that move likes waves. He referred to these ‘’energy packets’’ as photons. He later argued the energy of these photons is wavelength dependent, so the photons at visible wavelengths are more energetic than those of infared.

God says let there be light and there was light. The relationship of light with human is intrinsic due to which from the very beginning humans were in interesting to explore the nature of light. Some time they discover some interesting properties of light by knowingly sometime accidentally. One such accidental discovery was made an electrician named Willouhby Smith who accidentally realized that a material called selenium , electricity travelled through selenium well when it was exposed to light, but didn’t do so in the absence of light. Bur the amount of electricity with just selenium was not enough for doing any useful task. After this event two american scientist become interested in the idea of extraction and utilization sun’s energy (light) was thought.
Few time back the discovery of the fact that sun’s energy generates generates a flow of electricity in selenium. A decade later a scientist called Charles Fritts took up the idea and invented the first ever photovoltaic cell. He make a photovoltaic cell he put a layer of selenium onto a metal plane and covering it with pieces of gold that had been beaten into thin sheet and gold was used as its highly malleable. the immediate benefits of this photovoltaic cell was that the fact it generates more electricity that that had been measured with just a selenium .
With due course of time photovoltaic technology give tough competition to other technologies like hydroelectricity, generator driven by steams. With no time the advancement and benefits of this technology reached the other parts of the world and reached into the ear of Albert Einstein. This idea intrigued Einstein so much that he committed his studies to understand the relationship of light and electricity .
Expanding on crafted by Board, Einstein contended that light was really made of little bundles of vitality that move likes waves. He alluded to these ''vitality bundles'' as photons. He later contended the vitality of these photons is wavelength subordinate, so the photons at noticeable wavelengths are more vigorous than those of infrared.
