The biopsychosocial model carries out evaluation of the interactions between the environment as well as as the genetic and the thoughts that are going on within a person. These are referred to s an integration of the psychological, genetic and the socioeconomic aspects in causing or in being responsible for a disease. Whereas, the biomedical model only considers only the biological factors that are responsible in causing a condition and does not lay emphasis on other factors such as the environment or the socio economic conditions of a person. This model had been used since the 19th centur, though, some of the aspects could not be explored.
Age is important since the coping abilities of a person are directly affected by his age. When people are young or in the younger adult or teenages, they do not have the sense of the world, as a result of lack of experience. They are still experiencing and exploring the people and are highly vulnerable to their emotions because of the same reason. Adults, who have faced a greater number of situations in their life, get acclimatised to the situations and hence with harder blows in life, get more stable and capable in handling those situations.
Ethnicity also defines how a person might think and how his personality is shaped. In some ethnicities, crying or taking out emotions may be a sign of weakness whereas in some ethnicities it may be considered normal. In ethnicities that brand crying as a sign of weakness, people tend to keep their emotions within, resulting in depression.
Socioeconomic conditions of a person also affects the way a person can cope up. People suffering from mental diseases, in the absence of a financial support, can tend to succumb into the pressure of financial dues and lead further and further into depression. They cannot even afford treatments and proper help is also not obtained.
