Differential association means criminal behavior is learned through close and frequent association with criminal behavior patterns. I was associated with a government department where we used to exploit people by making them work overtime without paying them over time pay which was not illegal but was way unethical on our part & I continued to do so.

Just following the above example, I followed the same practise for some time but could not do so for eternity. Hence, I used our whistleblower forum & went on to explain everything about the working hour practice at the ministry level. I did it because not only it was unfair to those who were putting in additional hours without getting paid for the ivertime but also to reduce turnover rate amongst employees because of this reason.

Expert: Expert power comes from one’s experiences, skills or knowledge.
Legitimate: This power exists when a person submits to another person because the person feels that other person has a right to exert power in a specific domain.
Reward: This power is conveyed through rewarding individuals for compliance with one’s wants.
