In a 60 MHz spectrometer(corresponding to a magnetic field of 14,092 gause) the proton in CH3Cl absorb at a position 180 Hz down field from TMS.
(a) Determine chemical shift () of CH3 proton, also predict what would be the spectrum looks like if you use CD3Cl instead of Methyl chloride. (
b) Determine the difference in magnetic field required for resonance of CH3Cl proton compared to TMS (tri-methyl silane).(
c) What is the chemical shift of these protons in 300 MHz machine, and how many hertz downfield from TMS would they absorb at 300MHz? (H0 = 70,459 gauss)
