As we study the Semmelweis case study of the maternity hospital wards, it can be concluded that the transfer of infection or disease is due to the the transfer of pathogen which causes that disease. This hypothesis of transferring of pathogens is concluded by observing the training procedures and the the schedule of of the students and the doctors in the wards. In the first ward, the students and the trainees work performing the postmortem procedures prior to attending the patients and their diagnosis without washing their hands with any antiseptic. While in the second ward, the students and the trainees are doing their practice with different schedule. They are not performing the postmortem procedures first. So the death rate in the second ward is low. The observations concluded that the pathogens from the dead bodies are get transferred to the newly arrived patients as the practitioner are not washing their hands. To overcome these conditions, regular sanitization is important by applying alcohol or chloride based sanitizers.
