For many years, salmonella outbreaks in the Carribbean region was a public health concern that even shook the economy of the region by surprise.
In between 1998-99 there were some studies conducted in Trinidad and Tobago which was laboratory based experiments to rule out the epidemiological impacts of the outbreaks.
Salmonellosis is a gastrointestinal disorder caused by the bacteria from genus salmonella.it is mainly transmitted through food and contaminated water these were the major reasons of spread of the disease in Carribbean.
Also infected food handlers or foods that had a contact with animal feces can strengthen the crisis.
However the Carribbean health authorities conducted severe actions to tackle it's spread by collection of samples from more than 600 fast food chains across the region.
Interestingly, 47 serotypes of salmonella were found from meat, sausages, chicken, cheese and so on.these food products were somehow adulterated or got contaminated during it's process of making or while handling.
Finally they came in to a concert saying the causes were either foodborne or contact with animals.
