examples of chemical reactions
Chemical reaction is a process in which one or more chemical substances interact as the reactants to produce one or more new chemical substances as the products with different compositions. Chemical substances are either chemical compounds or elements. A chemical reaction is represented by a chemical equation in which the left hand side of the equation represents the reactants and the right hand side represents the products. Some examples of chemical reactions:
1. When hydrogen gas reacts with nitrogen gas, it produces ammonia gas as a product. A chemical reaction must be balanced by coefficients on both side of chemical equation.
3H2 (g) + N2 (g) ---- 2NH3 (g)
2. When nitrogen and oxygen gas react together, it produces nitric oxide gas as a product.
N2 (g) + O2 (g) ------ NO (g)
3. Carbon dioxide reacts with water to produce glucose and oxygen as the products.
6CO2 (g) + 6H2O (l) ------ C6H12O6 (s) + 6O2 (g)
