Personal protective equipment has become an important and imotive subject during the current covid 19 epidemic. Covid 19 is predominantly by contact or droplet transmission attributes to relatively large respiratory particle which are subject to gravitational forces and travel only approximately one meter from the patient. Air borne transmission may occur if the patient respiratory activity or medical procedure generate respiratory aerosols. These aerosoles contain particles that may travel much longer distance and remain airborne longer, but their infective potential is uncertain. Contact, droplet and airborne transmitted are each relevant during airway manoeuvers in infected patinets, particularly during tracheal intubation. Personal protective equipment is an important component, but only 1 part, of a system protecting an other patients from covid 19 cross infection. Appropriate use significantly reduces risk of viral transmission.personal protective equipment should logically be matched to the potential mode of viral transmission occur during patient care, it can be contact, droplet or airborne. Recommendation from international organization are broadly consistent, but equipment use is not. Only airborne precautions include a fitted high filteration mask and this should be reversed for aerosol generating procedures. Uncertainty remains around certain details of personal protective equipments including mask type, use of potential for resuse of equipment.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital emergency department at a very busy hospital receives, on average, one patient every 25.1 minutes. The standard deviation of inter-arrival time between two consecutive patients is 9.8 minutes. Calculate the average patients arrival (receiving) rate per day for this hospital emergency service. Note that, the emergency service of this hospital is open 24/7, and one day is equivalent to 24 hours.

COVID-19 is a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. This coronavirus infection results in an acute respiratory infection that can lead to viral pneumonia and end-organ failure. CoV-2 is a RNA virus (single stranded RNA genome) that specifically targets cells in the lungs that express the ACE2 receptor. Answer the three related questions regarding a mucosal immune response to SARS-CoV-2: 1. Which antibody class would you expect to encounter CoV-2 and which T effector T cell would activate B cells? As the...

A geneticist wants to identify genes that may be involved in resistance to COVID-19 infection. While you cannot perform mutational screens in humans, (you could - but it's highly unethical and illegal) you can perform these in human tissue culture. The experiment is designed to screen for cells that gain the ability to resist infection after being treated with a mutagen. This approach would be considered a: a. None of these answers are correct b. reverse genetic screen c. pleiotropic...
