Hi Answer:
Q. You measure RNA and protein. RNA is detected in all of your cultures except the one treated with compound A. What process in the cell is compound-A inhibiting?
Answer: Option A (Transcription)
Explanation: Yes, the answer to the question is option A i.e. transcription. It can be understood like this. When the cells are treated with 5 different chemicals i.e. A, B, C, D, and E and after treatment, their RNA and protein level was measured. It is observed that all 4 sets out of total 5 i.e. B, C, D and E show RNA and protein formation. These results concluded that these chemicals (B, C, D, and E) didn’t inhibit the replication, transcription and translation process of cells and they normally form RNA and proteins. Or in other words, these 4 chemicals have no effect on the central dogma of cells (DNA makes RNA and RNA make protein). But in case of 5th chemical treatment i.e. chemical A, there is no RNA was observed which clearly shows that the process of transcription i.e. the formation of RNA is inhibited and if there is no mRNA then off course there will be no protein formation took place.
