At the beach, there were 53 engineers and 45 artists. There were also 2 writers. Of the 26 total females at the beach, 9 are engineers and none were writers. Determine the probability table for the house or the beach.
Please show all of your work! Any guidance is extremely appreciated.
We are given here that:
n(engineers) = 53,
n(artists) = 45,
m(writers) = 2,
Also, amongst females we are given here that:
n(females and engineers) = 9
n(females and writers) = 0,
n(females) = 26
From the above values, the other frequencies are computed here
as:
n(females and artists) = n(females) - n(females and engineers) -
n(females and writers)
n(females and artists) = 26 - 9 - 0 = 17
Also for males now, the frequencies are obtained here as:
n(males and engineers) = n(engineers) - n(females and
engineers)
n(males and engineers) = 53 - 9 = 44,
n(males and artists) = n(artists) - n(females and artists) = 45 -
17 = 28
n(males and writers) = n(writers) - n(females and writers) = 2- 0 =
2
n(Total) = 53 + 45 + 2 = 100
Therefore the probability table now is obtained here as:
Male | Female | |
Engineers | 44/100 = 0.44 | 9/100 = 0.09 |
Writers | 2/100 = 0.02 | 0 |
Artists | 28/100 = 0.28 | 17/100 = 0.17 |
