In one three day weekend,
The daily high temperature has a median value of 77.
The mean daily high temperature is 78.
The range of daily high temperature is 21.
Now, as 77 is the median value, 77 is the observation of the middle high temperature.
And, there must be one temperature value which is more than 77 (say a), and there must be one temperature which is less than 77 (say b).
Now, as the mean value is 78, so we can say
....(i)
The range is 21; so we can say that
.........(ii)
We solve these two equations (i) and (ii).
From (i), we find
.....(iii)
Adding (ii) and (iii), we get
And then putting a=89, in (iii), we get
So, the answer is
The three weekend daily high temperatures are 68, 77 and 89.
