Please give a few examples of how we use mean, median, and mode in our daily personal or work lives.

Expert Solution

Soln,

Mean, meadian mode are the way of finding the characteristic of data set.

Lets say for our dialy use life

For this we need to consider a example lets say our sleep timing , lets consider it for the first week in the month of july 2018, in the First week on monday we slept for 8 hrs and again on tue 7 hrs again 6 hrs, 7 hrs, 7 hrs, 6hrs, 9 hrs, till sunday. here the data set wiil be like {8,7,6,7,7,6,9}

So, Mean can be defined as the average of the data set or in naive or in our dialy sleeping habbit we can define it as avearage hrs of sleep during the first week of july as in example. this can be calculated as adding all hrs as (8+7+6+7+7+6+9)/7 = 7.14 hrs dialy average . It explains that we took 7.14 hrs of sleep dialy on average for first week of july.

Median

It can be defined as the Median Is Another Kind of Average,Although the mean is the most common type of average, the median can also be used to express the average of a group.Median is the point where half of the data is above the nedian and half of the data is less than the meadian. For example above if we arranfe the data set in assending order we get {6,6,7,7,7,8,9} here in the middle 7 hrs lies which explains that half of the days we took sleep less than of 7 and half of the days we took sleep more than 7 or median.

Mode.

Mode Occurs Most,When looking at a set of information, the mode is simply the number that occurs most often in the set.Lets again see at our previous example thwre we can see that the most of the days we slept for 7 hrs this is what mode explains, means it is that value which occurs the most.
