Some GISs are used for very small geographic areas, such as a campus or a single building. Can you think of how a GIS could help the maintenance department of a university campus?

Can you think of how a GIS could help the maintenance department of a university campus?

The GIS (Geographical Information System) are very useful systems which also helps keep information layers in views using different types of maps and 3D scenes as a framework for collecting , managing and mainly analyzing data in different geographical areas.

How can it be used in campus or universities?

There can be a variety of ways of using GIS. We will dive deeply and find out how to maintain the GIS department or university campus:

Everybody believes that GIS is a tool for data analysis and data maintenance but it can be used as the most potent tool to make decisions that educational administrations can initially use for a variety of purposes.
For students, GIS can be used. It can also offer the university administrator education strategies and different strategies for every student.
In the management of certain things, GIS can also help:
Campus security monitoring
Network Planning
Campus building mapping, structures and so on.
It also helps students to think critically and use the true data as they need it. GIS can also help you to connect with your own community and reduce the distance factor. GIS can also be viewed as a framework for investigation and problem solving.
Therefore, the GIS could be used to support the university campus maintenance department.

Bank officers use DSSs to make decisions on extending or denying credit. Universities might use DSSs to decide which applicant to admit and which applicant to reject. Would you agree to use DSSs for such decisions without human intervention?

Surely, I would not accept only the exclusive use of DSS for such decisions without human intervention because it would only calculate and take a response based on a case-base reasoning. The case -base reasoning is a methodology of solving a new problem established on the solutions of similar problems. The software that supports the technique is often called case-based ESs. We must keep in mind that each situation has its own necessities and only human interaction and intervention can have the final decision when making decisions as important as these that can affect the life of a client forever. We must appeal to our critical thinking too.
